How the market works

Every listing starts at $0.0000

appmarket.lol is a fictional stock market for internet products. Nobody gets a free valuation: a new listing opens with a Market Cap of exactly $0.0000 and a fixed supply of exactly one share. Share Price is simply the Market Cap.

Genuine attention earns value

Verified interactions create small amounts of Market Value. Roughly: a qualifying page view is worth a fraction of a cent, an outbound click about a cent, a watchlist add a few cents, and a written review — the highest-effort action — about a quarter. Repeated actions from the same person quickly stop counting, and each source has daily diminishing returns, so organic growth is intentionally slow. Reaching $100 organically represents real traction; $1,000 is genuinely hard.

Value decays

Old attention fades. Organic value decays slowly (well under 1% per day, faster after long inactivity), so last quarter’s traffic can’t hold a leaderboard spot forever. A dead listing drifts back toward zero.

Anyone can inject capital

Anyone can back any listing with real money: $1 paid = $10 of value, applied instantly. It counts fully toward Market Cap and rankings — that’s the point — but it is always publicly labeled, shown separately from organic value, and it decays about 2% per day, far faster than earned value. An injection buys momentum, not permanence. Every stock’s composition (organic vs injected) is public.

The scoreboard

Market Cap = organic value + remaining injected capital. The homepage ranks by it. Daily Movers ranks net daily movement (earned, injected, and decayed), with capital-driven moves labeled. Organic Leaders ranks earned value only. Each stock publishes a daily ledger explaining exactly why it moved.

What this is not

Market Value is an internal appmarket.lol score expressed in dollar-like units for the game. Listings are not securities. There is no investment, ownership, token, redemption value, cash-out, or financial return of any kind. Capital Injections are promotional purchases that affect a fictional score. Sponsored placements are advertisements and sit entirely outside the market.
